How to test with ads before you build the business.

So you had a great business idea, and you're about to go all-in, BUT WAIT!

Hey ! Welcome to the collector’s edition, newsletter numero uno! Let’s dive straight into the good stuff.

Is there anything more exciting than your latest business idea? I don't think so. I mean, what if this really is the next Uber or Canva unicorn?

But, before you sell the house and start living in your car or move back into your parent's basement to save money, let’s talk about a quick and easy way to test the market. It goes a little something like this:

  1. Build a one-page website that looks like a real product or service page with all the bells and whistles your actual site would have. Oh, and my favourite one-page website builder is Carrd.

  2. Include pricing details so people know what they’re in for. This way, low-value prospects will weed themselves out.

  3. Add a form to capture email addresses from those eager beavers who want in on the early launch waitlist, or have a ‘Sold Out’ page with the option to get notified of new stock and shipping.

  4. Run META traffic ads to the website for a week on a small budget. See who bites. (I suggest adding Microsoft Clarity to the site to keep an eye on user behavior) and start collecting that sweet pixel data.

  5. Aim for a 3-5% conversion rate. With 100 page views a day, you should have around 35 emails by the end of the week.

  6. Decide if the value is there for you to start building that business, or maybe wait for the next big idea to hit you right in the feels.

Stay Awesome.
